FOR SANZANEMO COLLECTIVE





In 1993 Guido Tuveri founded, together with Jean Hugues Miredin from France and Charlotta Ofverholm from Sweden, a multi-ethnic dance troupe with the purpose of changing the traditional view of dance. To further that aim, Guido makes sure that people of all ages, shapes, and races perform with his SanzaNemoCollective. In his own works, as well as in works that are commissioned by other companies, he includes, along with exceptional technicians, dancers that are less skilled in athleticism or have unconventional looks and bodies. In this way he hopes to incorporate into the dance the power of the dancers’ physical and cultural idiosyncrasies.

BACKGROUND



Native of Guspini, Sardinia, Italy



At the age of 15, Tuveri began the study of the traditional folk dances of Sardinia, under the guidance of the elder members of the Guspini Folk Dance Group.



A parallel interest in martial arts led him to the study and performing of Japanese Kabuki Theatre, as well as traditional teather, espressive movement and acrobatics.





Dance Education



In 1986, he received his Dance Certification from ASMED (Sardinian Association for Music and Dance), directed by Paola Leoni, on a full scholarship from the Sardinia Region.



In 1988, he completed his professional certification at “Compagnia Italiana di Danza Contemporanea” directed by Renato Greco in Rome, on a full scholarship from

the Lazio Region.



Four years at the National Academy of Dance in Rome, directed by Lina Penzi.



Three years of professional dance training at “Ballet Arts at City Center,” in NYC,

1994-96.
